My new glasses/lens have no problem transitioning from CLEAR when indoors, to DARK GRAY when outdoors on a bright sunny day, and back again. True, when its very cold, the transitioning can take a few minutes to complete. I am very pleased, and they work just like shown on this website.

The xtraactive lenses don’t get nearly as dark as I expected from advertising. Barely noticeable while driving. I paid waaaayyyy more for my glasses this time than I usually do. Lesson learned I guess.

I was totally disappointed to find out that I had the option of sapphire or amethyst transitions colors....I would have picked probably both those colors since I bought two pairs of glasses which my vision insurance did not cover the transitions part...so now I am stuck with a pair of glasses I am totally unhappy with....The pair that has the transitions I would have chosen another color but the doctor told me there were only two to choose from....brown and gray....so not true and I am very disappointed and upset because I would have had the sapphire with one pair and the amethyst with the other pair which actually has a shade or two of purple in them!!!!!!

Either takes forever to clear up inside dark rooms or will not clear up at all.

They do not work if you are in the shade looking at bright sunny scenes as in driving a car. Glasses have to be in direct sunlight to darken.

    Don't like them

I live in northern Wisconsin. The colder and more overcast it is, the darker my lenses. They get darker than on a sunny hot day. And, they take a very long time to lighten. People have asked me why my lenses are so dark. My son has the same problem with his lenses.

I remember before Transitions lenses came out and due to the high sensitivity to light had ( and have) I found myself always having the inconvenience of having to switch from sunglasses to prescription. While I was indoors or at work at that time it was inappropriate as well as unsafe to have sunglasses on. When they first came to my attention I thought finally someone has come up with a product that will make my life so much easier not to mention comfortable.

They do not get dark enough in the car. I bought the XTRActive lenses especially for driving. I'm still needing regular sunglasses because they only have a very light tint in the car. If I had known this, I would not have purchased them.

"I first started wearing progressive lenses with transition back in grad school, 1991. Dr. Joe introduced them to me as protection from indoor florescent lighting, to stave off my headaches. As a first time eye glass wearer I found relief immediately and back then the lenses he prescribed only came in golden brown. Today's transitions are technically superior lenses, with so many option and in my opinion offer spectacular results!"
