HOW DOEs TRANSITIONS® ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY WORK?
Using state-of-the-art photochromic technology, Transitions adaptive lenses, snow goggles and shields are designed to maintain an optimum light level in all situations. Photochromic technology responds to changes in UV light – as sunlight increases in intensity, the UV increases and the lenses darken. The end result is adaptive technology that reduces glare and provides maximum protection in bright lighting, while darkening just enough in low-light situations.
HOW QUICKLY DO TRANSITIONS® ADAPTIVE SUNWEAR PRODUCTS ACTIVATE?
Using state-of-the-art photochromic technology, Transitions adaptive lenses, snow goggles and shields maintain an optimum light level in all situations. They begin to activate instantly upon exposure to UV light and are constantly working in reaction to the changing light. In bright light, they will typically become fully dark in around two minutes.
WHAT FACTORS AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF TRANSITIONS LENSES?
Photochromic technology works by reacting to the amount of UV present, time of day and temperature. When the lenses become cold, the molecules in photochromic technology begin to move slowly. This means that it will take somewhat longer for the lenses to adapt from dark to clear. When the lenses become warm, the molecules speed up and become more reactive, meaning it will fade back faster.
WILL THE PERFORMANCE OF TRANSITIONS ADAPTIVE SUNWEAR PRODUCTS DECREASE OVER TIME?
Like all photochromic products, the life span of Transitions adaptive technology is directly related to how frequently the products are exposed to UV light. To help extend the performance of the lenses, we suggest you do not leave them in direct sunlight when not in use as continual exposure to UV light degrades all photochromics.
