Bell Helmets and Transitions Optical Bring Adaptive Face Shield Technology to Global Markets

Bell Helmets and Transitions Optical Bring Adaptive Face Shield Technology to Global Markets

As demand grows, partners expand line of photochromic face shields into Latin America, Australia

PINELLAS PARK, Fla., Feb. 15, 2013 – Exemplifying the growing trend of photochromics globally, Bell Helmets and Transitions Optical, Inc., have expanded their partnership into the Latin American and Australia markets, bringing the popular Bell® Transitions® adaptive face shield to more motorcycle enthusiasts across the globe.

“Our business has grown, in large part due to the success of the Bell Transitions adaptive face shield,” said Chris Sackett, business manager, Bell Powersports. “The Latin American and Australian markets are a fantastic opportunity for us to continue to expand this successful partnership and bring photochromic technology to a new segment of riders.”

The shields, which use the same state-of-the-art technology as in Transitions® everyday lenses, automatically self-adjust from clear at night and in low light conditions to dark gray in bright sunlight. The shields eliminate the need for motorcycle riders to carry and switch out two shields.

“More and more motorcycle riders are recognizing the convenience of photochromic technology in their face shields,” said Grady Lenski, director, Adjacencies, Transitions Optical. “This is in line with a growing trend we’re seeing for photochromic lenses as well, as more sport enthusiasts are opting to choose adaptive technology for their sunglasses and goggles.”

According to the Vision Council’s 2012 Sports Sunglass Report, 16.2% of all action sports sunglasses/goggles now feature photochromic lenses.

From humble beginnings in the garage of a 1950’s Southern California speed shop to the heads of champions in auto, motorcycle and bicycle competitions all over the world, Bell is synonymous with protection and progression.
